tado° is a Munich-based smart-heating company founded in 2011 by Christian Deilmann, Johannes Schwarz and Valentin Sawadski. Its product line covers smart thermostats, radiator thermostats and dedicated controls for heat pumps and air-conditioning, said to be compatible with up to 95% of European home builds. Features include smartphone scheduling, geofencing-based presence detection, open-window detection, weather and home-insulation modelling, and voice control via the major smart-home assistants. Since February 2025 the app requires a subscription: Basic at €0.99/month or Auto-Assist at €2.49/month for full automation. tado° GmbH is publicly listed in Frankfurt.
