About Qwant

Qwant is a French general-purpose search engine launched in 2013 and headquartered at 30 Avenue George V in Paris. It does not track users, does not resell personal data and stores no search history; results are hosted in Europe and the company emphasises GDPR-grade privacy. In 2023 Qwant was acquired by Synfonium, a holding company majority-owned (75%) by OVHcloud founder Octave Klaba and his brother Miroslaw, with the remaining 25% held by France's public investment bank Caisse des Dépôts. In 2024 Qwant and Ecosia jointly founded European Search Perspective in Paris to build a sovereign European search index.
