About Mullvad Browser

Mullvad Browser is a free, open-source desktop browser released in April 2023, developed by the Tor Project team and distributed by Swedish privacy company Mullvad, headquartered in Gothenburg. It uses the Tor Browser hardening — letterboxing, "resist fingerprinting", private mode by default, no persistent cookies, blocked third-party trackers — but routes traffic over a normal connection or a VPN rather than the Tor network, making it a faster alternative for users who already have a trusted VPN. The browser is free of charge whether or not the user subscribes to Mullvad VPN.
