Polar Electro Oy is a Finnish manufacturer of sports wearables headquartered in Kempele, founded in 1977 and credited with releasing the world's first wireless heart-rate monitor. The current line-up spans chest-strap heart-rate sensors, wrist-based fitness watches, multisport GPS watches, fitness trackers and bike computers, paired with the Polar Flow training and analytics platform and Polar Beat mobile app. Polar is widely used by professional sports teams, clinical researchers and individual athletes for training-load, recovery and HRV measurement. The company has roughly 1,200 employees and 26 subsidiaries selling into 35,000 retail outlets across more than 80 countries.
