Posteo is a paid, ad-free email service operated since 2009 by Patrik and Sabrina Loehr from Berlin, Germany. Accounts cost EUR 1/month for 2 GB and include encrypted email, calendar, contacts and notes accessible via Roundcube webmail or IMAP/POP3/SMTP, plus support for two-factor authentication, DNSSEC/DANE, S/MIME, OpenPGP and on-the-fly encryption of mailbox data at rest. The service does not require personal information at signup, runs on 100% green energy, does not log IPs and is GDPR-compliant. As of 2022 Posteo had more than 500,000 active mailboxes.
