Natural Cycles is a femtech company headquartered in Stockholm and co-founded by particle physicists Elina Berglund Scherwitzl and Raoul Scherwitzl. Its flagship app combines basal-body-temperature input from a Bluetooth or oral thermometer with an algorithm to identify fertile and non-fertile days. It was the first app certified as a contraceptive in the European Union and was cleared by the US FDA in 2018 as a Class II medical device. Used by more than three million people worldwide, the company raised a €50.8 million Series C in 2024 to expand its hormone-free birth-control product.
