Mistral AI is a Paris-based developer of large language models, founded in 2023 by former DeepMind and Meta researchers. It releases open-weight models under Apache 2.0 (Mistral Small through Mistral Large) alongside proprietary models, plus Le Chat, a consumer and enterprise chat assistant with image generation. Le Chat has a free tier and a Pro plan at $14.99/month; the API is sold per-token for developers and businesses.
