G DATA CyberDefense AG is a German cybersecurity company headquartered at the G DATA Campus in Bochum, founded in 1985 and credited with releasing the world's first antivirus software in 1987. Around 500 employees develop endpoint protection, EDR/XDR, email security and security-awareness training for consumers, SMBs, enterprises and critical infrastructure operators. Products are developed entirely in Germany and carry the European Cyber Security Organisation's "Cybersecurity Made in Europe" label, with consumer plans sold per device per year and business plans quoted by seats.
