About Babbel

Babbel is a Berlin-headquartered language-learning subscription service operated by Babbel GmbH, founded in 2007. The platform teaches 13 languages including Spanish (both Mexico and Spain variants), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Swedish and Turkish, with beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and a placement test. Lessons are short, dialogue-led and combined with speech recognition, podcasts, video, AI conversation partners and the Babbel Magazine — courses are built by an in-house team described as "200+ language experts". The company says it has sold more than 25 million subscriptions, with discounted access for students, teachers, military and healthcare workers; users can also try the first lesson of every course free, up to 80 lessons in total.
